We were shocking, admits upset Trott

Surprise package Hendon remain at the top of the Ryman Premier League table, following their 2-0 win at Margate yesterday.

And the north-west Londoners welcome Ramsgate to Claremont Road on Tuesday night as the top two sides go head-to-head.

Margate boss Robin Trott was hugely disappointed following his side’s defeat to the Dons at Hartsdown Park.

“What can I say? No excuse,” he told www.margate-fc.com.

In an honest assessment of his team’s performance, he added: “We didn’t have enough about us today, we didn’t believe we’d win. They dictated to us.

“They didn’t play particularly well today, but in the final third we were shocking. We didn’t get the ball in the box when we should have got the ball in the box.”

Looking for positives from the game, Trott said: “I think Kieran Morris done himself a world of good out there, he took his chance.

“I think they had a tough job, him and Jay Saunders in the middle. They really tried to battle it out.”

Eleventh placed Margate welcome an AFC Wimbledon side, that’s one place below them in the Ryman Premier League table on Tuesday night, and Trott confirmed that he is currently talking to two potential additions to the squad, which with the injury situation and potential suspensions in mind will bring welcome relief.

But he couldn’t hide his disappointment and frustration at a below par Margate performance, which saw Justin Skinner have a penalty saved by Richard Wilmot, before being sent off later in the game.
