Whitstable Town begin search for new management team
Monday 17th October 2011
WHITSTABLE TOWN invite applications for their vacant manager’s job following Peter Nott’s resignation yesterday.
Steve Nolan and Paul Hyde, who worked as Nott’s assistant and goalkeeping coach respectively, have also parted company with the out-of-form Ryman League Division One South club.
Chairman Joe Brownett issued the following statement on the club’s website: www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.
He said: “Very sorry to be losing both Steve and Paul. I did speak to Steve about taking over but he told me he had another position lined up.
“I would like to thank them both for their time with us but we have to move on.”
The club’s reserve team manager, Dave Fairclough, who managed Canterbury City in their Kent County League days, has been unveiled as the club’s caretaker manager for tomorrow night’s home Ryman League Cup Second Round tie against Chipstead and Saturday’s trip to Bognor Regis Town, who are in second place and three points behind Dulwich Hamlet.
Mr Brownett added: “We will be looking to appoint a new manager and to that end we invite interested parties to contact us through the usual channels.
“We will not exclude anyone who has previously applied for the position of manager of Whitstable Town Football Club.”
The Oystermen have won only three of their eleven league games and lie in eighteenth place in the Ryman League Division One South table and are only three points clear of the relegation zone.
They were knocked out of The FA Cup with Budweiser and The FA Carlsberg Trophy at the first hurdle by Worthing and Thamesmead Town respectively.
Applicants are invited to email Gary Johnson, the club’s secretary/vice-chairman at secretary@whitstabletownfc.co.uk
