Whitstable Town boss Peter Nott snaps up prolific striker Keelan Mooney

Tuesday 24th May 2011
WHITSTABLE TOWN boss Peter Nott has today unveiled striker Keelan Mooney as his first summer signing, writes Stephen McCartney.

Maidstone based Mooney, 22, forged a formidable partnership alongside Carl Cornell at Kent League side Tunbridge Wells last season scoring 19 goals, whilst Cornell netted 22 goals for Martin Larkin’s side.

Nott told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk that he is looking forward to working with Mooney again, having done so at Maidstone United.

He said: “Keelan has great technique with both feet, is very quick and he can also play on either flank as an attacking wide player when required.

“Keelan has a great attitude to the game and has attracted a great deal of interest from other Ryman League clubs so I am very pleased that we have secured his services.”

Mooney, who is an ideal replacement for Lloyd Blackman, who had signed for new Ryman League Division One South rivals Hythe Town earlier in the month, made his first team debut for Maidstone United in the Ryman Premier League as an eighteen-year-old and featured many times for them before joining Tunbridge Wells on a season’s loan arrangement so he could benefit from playing regular football, and he scored a goal every 187 minutes for the Wells.

Mooney becomes the second player to depart Culverden Stadium today, as Erith & Belvedere also unveiled the services of defender Scott Whibley.
