Whitstable Town receive fifteen applications for vacant managers role

THE vice-chairman/acting secretary of Whitstable Town has confirmed that the club has received fifteen applications for the vacant manager’s job at The Belmont, writes Stephen McCartney.
The club go into the festive period sitting in the bottom two in the Ryman League Division One South table with two wins and six draws from 19 league outings and parted company with manager Mark Lane as a result on their poor form.
Coach Steve Nolan remains in temporary charge of team affairs until a new manager is appointed and Gary Johnson confirmed to www.kentishfootball.co.uk that he has received in excess of 20 enquiries and 15 firm CV’s.
“These include many established managers at this level with a number of coaches from the professional game, some household names, and some lesser experienced candidates seeking a break into Contributory League football,” said Mr Johnson, a former referee.
“The position will be again advertised in the next Non League Paper publication as we seek the best calibre of candidate available to ensure our Ryman League survival and build to better things going forward.
“We are looking to shortlist candidates and interview in the opening two weeks of January, with appointment thereafter.”
The club are also inviting applications for the post of first team physio and commercial manager.
Mr Johnson added: “Our current physio is stepping down in January and we are looking to replace him with either a suitably qualified person or someone whom is close to finishing their appropriate studies and for whom we can assist in their career development by providing hands on experience. Saturday and midweek availability is a must.
“We want a commercial manager to drive our business activities creating income streams to assist with the continued funding for a club operating at this level.”
