Whitstable Town vacancy generates interest from far and wide

Friday 31st December 2010
WHITSTABLE TOWN vice-chairman Gary Johnson says he has been pleasantly surprised by the candidates that have applied for the vacant manager’s role at The Belmont, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Ryman League Division One South club made ground on third-from-bottom side Corinthian-Casuals with a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Ramsgate last Monday and are now level on points with the Surrey side.

Substitute Stuart Vahid sealed the points in what was caretaker manager Steve Nolan’s first game in charge and the former Maidstone United coach will be in charge for Monday’s trip to Faversham Town.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by the interest from far and wide regarding our recently advertised first team managers role; applications continue to be received, and to-date have come from both inside and outside the local circuit,” Mr Johnson told www.kentishfootball.co.uk last night.

“Indeed, one such application has been received from as far as field from Yugoslavia, whilst in the UK towards Bedford!

“We are aware that a number of interested parties who have recently made contact with the club have not as yet submitted their CVs, however the board will shortly be looking to short list and interview applicants in the coming 10 days.

“It is expected that final applications will be received over the new-year period.”

Any such applications maybe submitted to vice-chairman Gary Johnson, in strictest confidence, by email
gt_johnson@lineone.net whilst enquiries maybe made on 07957 424 810.

The debt-free club, based at Belmont Road, also invite applications for the vacant first team physio and commercial manager posts.
