Whitstable unveil Munday as their new manager
Sunday 10th May 2009
WHITSTABLE TOWN have today unveiled Mark Munday as their new manager, writes Stephen McCartney.
The committee of the Ryman League Division One South club decided on a show off hands that their unanimous choice to take on the job as manager should be the experienced midfielder.
“I was pleased to have been firstly offered the opportunity to be considered for the manager’s job,” Munday told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be able to accept the position.
“It is my first experience of management, but one that I am thoroughly looking forward to.
“Whitstable Football Club is in a great position both on and off the field and that is a testament to the chairman, a hardworking supportive committee and my predecessor Marc Seager.
“It is my aim to strengthen this fantastic squad of players I have at this club and not disband them.
“With hard work, effort, determination and a little bit of luck, I hope to make this coming season as successful as the previous two seasons in the Ryman League South.”
Interim chairman, Joe Brownett, insists the Belmont Road club have the right man, especially as Munday was a key member of the side in the middle of the park last season.
“We are pleased that Mark is the new manager,” said Mr Brownett.
“We like to promote from within whenever we can, we like to bring the players through the ranks and although we have had a number of quality applicants, Mark being a player who knows how we work was the right move.”
