Whyteleafe send their best wishes to woman involved in medical emergency before Ashford United fixture

A PRE-MATCH medical emergency ensured today’s Isthmian League South East Division match between Whyteleafe and Ashford United did not go ahead at Church Road today.

A statement issued by hosts Whyteleafe said: “Whyteleafe Football Club would like to thank the swift response from the Surrey Ambulance service and the medical staff of both Ashford United and Whyteleafe.”

Clive Davis, the general manager at Whyteleafe, added in a statement posted on www.theleafe.co.uk: “It became apparent very quickly that the incident was of a serious nature. This required a quick response from the medical staff of both teams inside Church Road at the time.

“We don’t want to comment on the incident until we have further details.

“What we do want to say is that everyone connected to both club’s have acted in an impeccable manner, showing the community spirit and togetherness that was required, as well as showing understanding as to why the game was postponed.

“Football does not matter in a situation like this, we all send our best wishes to the woman and her family.

“The club has no further update on the condition of the woman involved but will look to update all supporters when appropriate to do so.”

Meanwhile, Greenwich Borough must travel to Molesey again on Tuesday night as today’s FA Vase Second Qualifying Round tie at Walton Road was abandoned in the 80^th minute due to a serious injury to visiting goalkeeper Lewis Collier.

The score was goal-less at the time of the abandonment.
