Yoarth targets three new players

Wednesday 29th July 2009
MARGATE boss Terry Yorath’s admitted last night’s Thanet Gazette Cup first leg clash against Ramsgate was a feisty affair.

The Blues go into Saturday’s second leg at Ramsgate’s Southwood Stadium, with a slender one-goal advantage, courtesy of Curtis Robinson’s 73rd minute strike.

“A typical derby game,” was how Yorath summed up the Hartsdown Park clash, when speaking to www.margate-fc.com   last night.

“There were plenty of tackles flying in and not so many goal mouth chances.”

Of course, the name of the game at this stage of the season is preparation for the serious business of securing Ryman Premier League points, starting wit the trip to Sutton United on 15th August.

With the league season’s start in just over two weeks, the w Welsh legend said, “I’m not wholly convinced that that was a good performance but it was competitive which is what you want this time of year.”

He confirmed that he is still on the look out for two or three reinforcements.

“One player we’re talking to is on loan at another club at the moment, so we’ll just have to see where that goes,” he said.

“I’m still looking for a midfield player and a goalkeeper. So we’ve got plenty of irons in the fire it’s just that (up to now) we haven’t been able to sign one of them.”

In terms of how the Blues are staking up against last season, Yorath was particularly pleased with the improved balance that the current crop of players give him, and the fact that most of the players have known each other for 12 months.

And with the approaching league opener on the near horizon, does the manager have a starting 11 in mind?

“I’m pretty sure of it, yes but I’d still like to get (other) payers in and play them in the first game of the season,” he added.
